Our Cathedral Clergy
The Very Rev. Canon Samuel Githaiga Kioria
He is the Provost of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, serving as the Senior Priest and Administrative Head of the Cathedral.
He is married to Christine Wambui and together they are blessed with four children – two girls and two boys.
EDUCATION
Canon Githaiga holds a Diploma in Theology from St. Andrew’s Kabare School of Theology and Development, a Bachelor of Theology from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU), and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Daystar University.
MINISTRY JOURNEY
He was made a deacon in 2002 by the late Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. David Gitari at All Saints Cathedral and posted to serve at St. Peter’s Kahawa Sukari. Later in 2003 he was Priested at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Jogoo Road by the Bishop Emeritus, Rt. Rev. Peter Njoka and posted to St. Veronica South B where he served as Curate.
He has faithfully served as Vicar of St. Bartholomew Nyari (2005), Good Samaritan Ciiko (2007), St. Gertrude Kasarani (2010), St. Barnabas Otiende (2016), and St. Joseph of Arimathea (2019), before being appointed Provost of St. Stephen’s Cathedral in 2025.
OTHER ACCOLADES
– Served as Clerical Secretary to the Synod of the Diocese of Nairobi (2013 – 2023)
– Serving as the Diocesan TEE Chairman (2013 to date)
– Collated and Installed as Canon in the Stall of John Chrysostom (2021)
– Served as the Diocesan Choir Coordinator (2025 – 2026)
– Installed and Collated as Provost of St. Stephen’s Cathedral (2026)
PASSION AND VISION
His ministry passion is wholistic transformation – seeing spiritual transformation as people give their lives to Christ, family stability, and servant leadership that uplifts the lowly and motivates the strong. He has a special burden for family wholeness through group marital counseling sessions, church and other family-related empowerment programs.
He is also deeply committed to supporting youth and children ministry, ensuring faith continuity to posterity – that the next generation may know God, love Him and walk in His ways.
PERSONAL LIFE
Outside ministry, he enjoys being with his family, jogging and swimming.

Rev. Damaris Simiyu
Rev Damaris is a Curate at the Cathedral, appointed in September 2019. Besides her other pastoral duties, she assists the Provost as the Chaplain to the Lay readers.
Rev. John Wilson Okeyo
Rev Wilson is a Curate at the Cathedral since June 2025. He assists the provost as the chaplain to the Music Ministry (Choirs & Praise Team), and the Media team.
Rev. Peterson Njuki
Rev Njuki was posted to the Cathedral as a deacon on 1st November 2025 and became a curate on 14th August 2021. He assists the provost in running the youth ministry, the hospital ministry, and conducting confirmation classes.
